Laser Hair Removal
A step-by-step guide to what you can expect from your laser hair removal journey at Bare Bliss.
We begin by scheduling a consultation with one of our Skin Care Specialists to discuss your individual goals and develop a personalized treatment plan. Not all individuals are suitable candidates for Laser Hair Removal (LHR), as those with blonde, white, or gray hair may not have enough pigment for effective treatment. However, we also offer electrolysis, which is suitable for all hair types and colors. During the consultation, we will assess the most appropriate course of treatment for your needs. You will be asked to complete a medical history form, which will be reviewed by our Physician Medical Director to identify any potential contraindications for LHR or electrolysis.
To ensure the best results from your Laser Hair Removal (LHR) treatment, please follow these guidelines before your appointment: Shave the area to be treated 24 hours prior to your appointment — this allows the laser to focus on the hair follicle rather than the hair above the surface of the skin. Please note that if you arrive unshaved, an additional charge will apply. Refrain from sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 2 weeks prior to your treatment. Avoid tweezing or plucking hairs on days leading up to your appointment.
LHR treatments are performed by our licensed Nurse Practitioners or Licensed Cosmetic Therapists. During your initial visit, our Physician Medical Director will assess and clear you for treatment. The laser energy is delivered through a small handpiece operated by your practitioner. As part of our safety protocol, we will administer a single pulse of the laser and ask you to wait in the lobby for 15–30 minutes to monitor for any potential adverse reactions. Once this waiting period has passed, we will proceed with the remainder of your treatment. The sensation of the laser pulse is commonly described as similar to the snap of a rubber band.
The laser emits an intense beam of light, which is absorbed by the skin and converted into heat. This heat is then absorbed by the targeted hair follicles, while the surrounding tissue remains unaffected.
Within 1–3 weeks after treatment, you will notice the treated hair gradually shedding.
After your LHR treatment, it's important to follow these guidelines: Do not pick at or scratch the skin around the treated area, as this can increase the risk of irritation and scarring. Limit sun exposure for 14 days following your treatment and apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher if outdoors. Refrain from using hot water, hot tubs, saunas, or exfoliating products on the treated area for 48 hours.
Post Treatment Instructions ContinuedAs you continue with subsequent LHR treatments, you will observe fewer and fewer hairs regrowing. To prevent regrowth the hair must be in the anagen phase. It is important to return for each treatment within the recommended 2 to 6-week window to achieve optimal results. Skipping a treatment by more than 2 weeks may compromise the effectiveness of the procedure.
After completing the full series of treatments, you will enjoy smoother, softer skin without the irritation often caused by shaving and waxing!
